Woven Pillow

To make woven pillow you will need to make the strips to weave with first.

Make 46 strips by cutting out 4cmX32cm strips (23 strips in each colour). With an iron fold the edges in lengthwise  and then fold it in half.

Stitch the strips lengthwise on the edge.

By using diagram displayed on the top start weaving the strips. Tip: stitch the ends of the strips onto the piece of fabric (no smaller then 32cmX32cm) to give some stability.

When finished with the weaving, stitch all the strip ends evenly onto the piece of fabric that is on the back. Trim all the strips ends to get ready for the next step.

To make a frame for the woven piece, stitch two strips (4cmX32cm) onto the edges that are opposite each other on the block.

Do the same with the other edges: stitch two strips (4cmX40cm) onto the edges of the block and the strip ends that have been stitched earlier.

To make a pillow cut out another same size square and line it together with the woven block (inside out). Using the sewing machine stitch the squares together (remember 1cm allowance) leaving the gap on one of the sides.

Invert the pillow and fill it with polyester fibre or other suitable material. Close the gap by stitching the edges together. Ladder stitch is the best to use as it is invisible.

Have fun!!
